BeephoniX M2 delivers 3D situational awareness through real-time sound analysis. With 151 MEMS microphones and AI-driven classification, this lightweight sensor array detects, tracks, and identifies Class I–II drones — even in GPS-denied or visually obstructed environments.

Strategic Advantage of Acoustic Detection

Conventional drone detection methods—radar, RF scanning, and visual tracking—each have limitations in complex terrain, dense urban environments, or GPS-denied zones. Acoustic sensing offers a unique operational edge in these scenarios:

  • Undetectable by adversaries – Acoustic sensing is fully passive; no emissions, no signal signature
  • Line-of-sight independence – Sound waves propagate beyond visual barriers via diffraction and atmospheric refraction
  • Payload detection – Irregular rotor speed patterns can reveal payload anomalies (e.g. explosives or surveillance gear)
  • Non-spoofable – Unlike RF or GNSS-based systems, drones cannot mute or fake their acoustic footprint

System Architecture & Detection Methodology

The BeephoniX M2 is a bio-inspired, AI-enhanced acoustic detection system. It captures and processes spatial sound data with ultra-high sensitivity using 151 MEMS microphones per unit. Combined with an optional integrated optical module, the system enables precise threat detection and classification in real time.

 

Key design elements:

 

    • Real-time beamforming and sector-based scanning with embedded edge processing
    • Automatic drone classification based on rotor sound profiles, filtering environmental noise
    • Scalable array networking for 3D detection coverage up to a 500-meter radius
    • Optional visual augmentation via integrated camera for threat validation

To maximize acoustic performance:

 

  • The sensor array is embedded within a custom-designed conical foam cushion layer that funnels ambient sound to the microphones
  • It is enclosed in a hydrophobic acoustic mesh—water-repellent yet sound-permeable—ensuring durability without loss of sensitivity
